CAN Futsal 2024: Morocco dominates Ghana (8-3)

The top three teams in this African competition will earn their place at the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

Youssef Jouad, Soufiane El Mesrar and Soufian Charraoui both scored in this encounter, while Bilal Bakkali (from the penalty spot) and Khalid Bouzid also scored for the Atlas Lions. For their part, Ghana’s goals were scored by Prince Arthur and Philip Boye (double).

Despite a first period dominated by the team led by Hicham Dguig, the Moroccan players struggled to break through Ghana’s solid defense in the second half, only managing to take the lead after eight minutes of play on a penalty.

Ghanaian goalkeeper Michael Ruttmern stood out by repelling several attempts from the national team during the second half of the match.

With six points collected thanks to two victories against Angola and Ghana, the Moroccan team occupies the head of group A.

The eight teams qualified for this edition are divided into two groups. Group A includes double title holders Morocco, Angola, Ghana and Zambia, while Group B is made up of Egypt, Libya, Namibia and Mauritania.

The top three teams in this African competition will earn their place at the FIFA Futsal World Cup, scheduled for September 14 to October 6 in Uzbekistan.

The matches of this major continental futsal event take place at the Ibn Yassine Hall and at the Palais des Sports of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
