Roberto De Zerbi says he is “proud” to coach Brighton and “really lucky” to work with his players.

The Seagulls boss is reportedly a contender for the upcoming managerial vacancies at Liverpool and Bayern Munich, and said last week that he wanted talks with owner Tony Bloom before committing his future to Brighton.

But ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League against Brentford, De Zerbi said: “I am proud to be a coach of Brighton. I know I am really lucky to work with these players and with the club.”

Asked about the speculation regarding his future, De Zerbi said: “It’s not a problem. It’s a part of my work. At the moment, I want to be focused on the target.

“I have the contract. The focus is on the pitch. I’m really relaxed and without problems.”

However, the Italian acknowledged the role injuries have played in hampering Brighton’s season, saying: “I would like to compete in a different way, with a complete squad, but I try to compete with the available players.”
